EastEnders' cast salaries revealed - with a surprising top earner

If you have ever wondered how much the top dogs of the EastEnders’ cast earn then wonder no more, because a new report has claimed to reveal all on some of the soap stars pay packets.

However, you might be surprised to learn just who the highest earner is.

According to the Daily Star, Adam Woodyatt earns surprisingly little compared to some of his co-stars, despite appearing in the show since it first launched in 1985.

Playing Ian Beale for more than three decades, Adam takes home around £260,000 a year.

Next up is June Brown, who plays much-loved chainsmoker Dot Branning, with the 90-year-old actress reportedly being offered a whopping £300,000 for a contract that will see her remain in the show until March 2018, with BBC producers apparently terrified of losing her.

Steve McFadden plays the iconic face of Phil Mitchell, who you might expect to be the top dog when it comes to pay brackets, however, he earns £300,000 – which is £100,000 a year less than the biggest earner, Danny Dyer.

According to the report, Danny takes home a staggering £400,000 a year for his role as Mick Carter, which no doubt rubs some of his fellow actors up the wrong way considering he is still relatively new after joining the show in 2013.

It was also reported that Danny, 39, has a bit of bad blood with Adam, claiming that he was a better actor than the star because Adam has only ever played Ian Beale, whereas he has appeared in many other films and TV shows.

Danny apparently also bragged that he had saved the show by signing up in 2013, angering his castmates – something that an EastEnders’ spokesperson has strongly denied.

Responding in a statement, the spokesman said: “There is absolutely no truth in this story. Danny is an extremely popular member of cast and respected by everyone on the show.”

The salary news comes shortly after Danny took a shock break from the show, citing exhaustion and stress.

The actor jetted off to South Africa with his family to recuperate, rejoining the set last week… We wonder if the rest of the cast were as happy to have him back as viewers no doubt will be?
