EastEnders: Steven Beale to murder stepmum Jane after she discovers he's faking brain tumour?

If there is one thing that soaps have taught us over the years it’s that lies have a terrible habit of coming out, which is why lying about something as big as suffering from a brain tumour is probably not ever going to be the best idea in the world.

Still, over in EastEnders Steven Beale went ahead and told his girlfriend Lauren that he was dying from an incurable form of the cancer, with Lauren’s dad Max making matters even worse when he learned of Steven’s lie and went on to say that the troubled character only has three months to live.

Last night’s episode saw Lauren force Steven to finally tell his dad and stepmum, Ian and Jane, about his disease, with heartrending scenes seeing Ian break down as he asked what he did to lose his children in such a way, and things look set to only get worse for the Beale family.

In fact, it has been reported that Steven will try to murder Jane after she learns that he is faking his illness, with manipulative Max blackmailing Steven in order to further his own revenge plot.

It is believed that Steven will set the family restaurant on fire, leaving his disabled stepmother to perish, although it is not yet known whether he will have a change of heart and turn back to rescue her.

The plot no doubt links in with the devastating gas explosion that has been teased in recent weeks, with it recently being reported that at least one character will die as the square goes up in flames.

Many fans believe that it will be Steven who loses his life in the tragedy as earlier this month it was confirmed that actor Aaron Sidwell is set to bow out of the soap in the coming weeks, with Aaron teasing that Steven could go “full evil” ahead of his departure.

He previously shared: “He’s willing to go as far as it takes, whatever that might be and whoever it may hurt. We’re really going to see this tug of war – Steven’s always been this character that could go either way.

“He could go full evil or he could redeem himself and become the good guy.

“I think we’re really going to see that battle across this week especially.”

Steven has always been a troubled character who suffers with mental health issues, and previous schemes have seen him accidentally shoot Jane in the stomach and even accuse his uncle, Christian, of trying to groom him.

Needless to say, we can’t wait to see what the coming weeks have in store.
