Celebrity Big Brother 2017: Karthik Nagesan and Paul Danan caught up in explosive race row

We are only five days into this year’s summer series of Celebrity Big Brother and there has already been a race row.

Last night, viewers were shocked to see an explosive argument kick off between former Hollyoaks actor Paul Danan and The Apprentice star, Karthik Nagesan.

Karthik ended up accusing Paul of racism when his housemate refused to pronounce his name properly, with it all kicking off when Paul called Karthik “Qatar”.

Responding to the remark, Karthik said: “Don’t be a racist”, with Paul hitting back: “Don’t call me a racist” What a f*cking d*ck.

“What the f*ck?! All of a sudden the cider’s kicked in and he’s getting aggressive.”

Paul insisted that he was joking and had been mispronouncing Karthik’s name on purpose all day, screaming: “I know your f*cking name!” as he walked away from the argument.

However, later in the evening the pair came to blows again, with Paul telling Karthik: “Don’t ever play the racist card with me.”

Karthik insisted that he was only “joking” when he called the actor a racist, later telling Big Brother in the Diary Room: “Paul was calling me by the name of a Middle Eastern airline [Qatar Airlines] and I’ve not taken anything seriously.

“It’s fine, he was just joking.

“And I was joking back: ‘Oh, you’re a racist.'”

Viewers were divided by the altercation, with many insisting that Paul had been racist whereas others couldn’t understand why the row had exploded:
