Jeremy McConnell found guilty of physically assaulting Stephanie Davis

Jeremy McConnell has been found guilty of physically abusing his on/off girlfriend Stephanie Davis following an emotionally charged day at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court

Stephanie is said to have broke down in tears as the judge convicted Jeremy of assault, after the former Hollyoaks’ star gave evidence earlier that day of how Jeremy threw her around “like a rag doll” after he accused her of having a lesbian affair.

The prosecution also alleged that Jeremy had punched Stephanie while she was holding their eight-week-old baby, Caben, with Stephanie claiming that Jeremy was “out of it” on cocaine when the attack took place on March 10.

Stephanie told the court: “I heard him go over the gate and I thought ‘this is like a horror film’.

“He was booting my glass doors with his foot, and I thought the glass was going to shatter. I thought, ‘this is it, he’s going to kill me’.”

There was also tension in the court room when Jeremy laughed at Stephanie after she broke down in the dock, telling the judge: “He’s completely destroyed my life, it’s been the worst 18 months of my life.”

Stephanie screamed expletives at Jeremy as he interrupted her testimony, forcing the court to take a break, report The Mirror.

Jeremy denied all allegations against him and although he admitted to “sharing a bag of coke” with some friends he insisted that he was trying to defend himself from Stephanie.

He told the court: “She must have hit me 10 to 15 times.

“I had to defend myself. I put my arm up, I’ve never hit Stephanie.”

Judge Wendy Lloyd took just 15 minutes to find Jeremy guilty, telling the court: “This is a sad story, like many of this sort there is much emotion on both sides.”

The star will be sentenced later today.

Stephanie and Jeremy first met when they both appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015.

The couple have always had a tumultuous relationship and welcomed their son, Caben-Ali, together in January 2017.

Stephanie told the court that she gave Jeremy a “second chance” following the birth of their son, but he continued to be physically abusive towards her.
