Noel Gallagher slags off Harry Styles' solo music: 'My cat could have written it'

In case you missed it, Harry Styles released his debut solo album earlier this month and the self-titled 10-track record won critical acclaim from a whole host of reputable publications as well as his fellow musicians.

Music icons such as Gene Simmons and Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks sung Harry’s praises, with it appearing that pretty much everybody in the industry approved of the 23-year-old star’s solo sound.

However, there is one person who hasn’t been left impressed by Harry’s efforts and that is Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, who isn’t exactly known for keeping a controversial opinion to himself.

Seriously laying into poor Harry, Noel did not hold back as he ranted about the One Direction star’s debut solo single ‘Sign Of The Times’, claiming it was a song that his ‘cat could have written in just 10 minutes’.

Hm, anybody else reckon Noel should put his mog forward for next year’s season of Britain’s Got Talent? Because it sounds like he has the goods…

Speaking to Andy Bush on Absolute Radio, Noel ranted: “People of my age have let themselves go, they’re fat, balding idiots with fading tattoos. They sit in their garage and write sh*te like Sign of the Times for Harry Styles.

“Which, quite frankly, my cat could have written in about 10 minutes!”

He continued: “My wife was falling over herself, ‘Have you heard Harry Styles’ new song? It’s like Prince’. I was like, ‘Without even hearing it, I can assure you it’s not like Prince!”

Each to their own, eh Noel?

The rocker’s comments come after his brother, Liam Gallagher, praised Harry’s solo efforts, previously saying of Sign Of The Times: “I don’t mind it, man. There’s some interesting bits in it.

“I mean, I don’t know how it f**king goes, but fair play to him. I’m sure, like, it’s a bigger f**king cost. I’ve got the weight of Oasis still hanging over me and I’m sure I’ll always be that guy from Oasis, so I’m sure he’s carrying an equal weight.

“If he wants to get out of that pop world and into something with a bit more substance, I think that’s a good thing.”

Further proof that Liam and Noel Gallagher could not be more different.
