Mel B's estranged husband granted visitation rights to daughter amid domestic abuse allegations

Last month, Mel B filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years, Stephen Belafonte, later being granted a restraining order against him after she alleged that he was physically, sexually and emotionally abusive throughout their marriage.

Mel was hoping to maintain a ban on Stephen having access to her children, including their five-year-old daughter Madison, but now it has been reported that Stephen is allowed supervised contact with Madison in spite of the abuse claims and his links to the porn industry.

Appearing at Los Angeles Superior Court, a judge extended Mel’s restraining order but also ordered that he could see his daughter twice a week at a supervised centre.

Mel’s lawyer, Larry Bakman, disputed the ruling, saying: “This man represents a continuing danger to the child.

“We’re still finding new evidence. There are additional acts of domestic violence each day.”

Stephen refused to comment when he left court but his lawyer said that he was “happy” that he can now see his daughter.

Alongside the domestic abuse allegations, the court also heard how Stephen is allegedly filming pornographic films as part of an adult website that he runs.

Bakman continued: “The evidence will show that there are a large number of computers located within the possession of Mr Belafonte which show he is involved in running pornographic sites.

“Mr. Belafonte is involved in leading various locations throughout the city. There are money trails.

“Where is the visitation going to take place? Is the child going to have access to computers while she’s with Mr Belafonte?

“Is it going to take place in a residence which he is using to film adult pornography?”

The judge confirmed that the visitation will take place at a supervised contact centre.

The news comes after Mel’s lawyers told the court that they need up to 15 days in court in order to present the “tremendous amount of witnesses” that they have in their bitter divorce battle.

Multiple people have come forward to support the former Spice Girl’s shocking allegations, which include claims that she was sexually exploited by her husband over a 10 year period.
