Mel B to give Stephen Belafonte £5million and a private island if he agrees to gagging order

Mel B and her estranged husband, Stephen Belafonte, have been locked in a bitter legal battle ever since the former Spice Girl filed for divorce last month.

Mel was soon granted a restraining order from Stephen, with the star claiming that he was physically abusive and aggressive throughout their 10-year marriage, allegations that Stephen has strongly denied.

Now it looks like Mel is willing to resort to drastic measures in a bid to get the divorce over with as quickly as possible, apparently offering the film producer a huge lump sum of £5million and a private island if he agrees to a gagging order.

Mel bought Stephen the island, situated in Virginia, for his birthday in 2014, and it is thought to be worth a whopping £1million.

Speaking to the Daily Star, a source revealed: “Mel wants it done and dusted as quickly as possible to prevent any more harm being done to her kids. She’ll give him £5 million plus that bloody white elephant of an island, which was a total waste of money.

“He wants double that, but he’ll take what’s being offered because if he gets into a fight with her then her pockets are much deeper than his.”

As well as the divorce settlement, Stephen is fighting Mel over the custody of their five-year-old daughter, Madison, with Mel seeking full parental control of her little girl.

Speaking out over the weekend, Stephen told reporters: “It is in the hands of my lawyers. My kids are the only thing that matter to me.”

Mel has claimed that Stephen started abusing her within the first year of marriage in 2007, alleging that he would “beat her down to let her know he was in charge” whenever she excelled in her career.

She also admitted that she had tried to leave him many times but he would threaten her with violence and also vow to take away her kids.

As well as physical abuse, Mel also claims that she was sexually exploited and that Stephen would force her to partake in threesomes, threatening that he will leak sex tapes he’d secretly filmed of her to the press if she refused.
