Taylor Swift 'secretly dating' Joe Alwyn: Who is the British actor?

After keeping a pretty low profile over the last few months, Taylor Swift’s name is back in the headlines following reports that she is dating British actor Joe Alwyn.

The star is said to be so keen to keep their romance top secret that she has taken to going out with him in wigs and disguises in a bid to keep away prying eyes.

In short, this couldn’t be any further from her very public romance with Tom Hiddleston…

Speaking to The Sun, an insider dished: “Taylor and Joe are the real deal, this is a very serious relationship but after what happened with Tom Hiddleston, they were determined to keep it quiet.”

Joe reportedly still lives with his parents so Taylor has been renting out a home in London in order to spend time with her new beau, travelling around the capital completely incognito.

The source continued: “Taylor has flown in via private jets and her security has made it a military-like mission to prevent her from being seen. She’s been walking around with Joe in London using disguises, like scarves and hats, to keep her identity under wraps.

“Nobody has a clue they’ve been walked past a music superstar – not even her new neighbours.

“This isn’t a new couple alert or a secret relationship – the only people this has been a secret to is the media because all of us, Taylor and Joe’s closest friends and their families, were aware they have been together for several months and have known each other for a long time.

“After her 1989 tour and all the attention Taylor received, she learned she had to be more protective of her personal life and she and Joe decided early on to keep their private life private.”

So, who is Joe Alwyn?

The 26-year-old hunk is an up-and-coming actor who has appeared in a handful of films alongside the likes of Steve Martin, Kristen Stewart and Gerard Butler. Born and raised in Crouch End, North London, Joe attended the University of Bristol from 2009 – 2012 before enrolling in the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama to study acting.

Whilst at Central, Joe took part in a host of theatre productions at the school but eventually landed his first film acting role in Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, playing the title character with Kristen Stewart cast as his sister.

He went on to star in drama film The Sense Of An Ending opposite Michelle Dockery, and psychological thriller Keepers.

Joe’s next major film role will reportedly see him play Emma Stone’s love interest in The Favourite, which is billed for release in 2018.

The actor’s unverified Twitter page has a humble 3,302 followers and his rumoured new girlfriend, Taylor, is not following him at the moment – no doubt in a bid to keep their relationship as low-key as possible.

Still, with the singer’s annual Fourth of July party fast approaching, we can’t help but wonder whether Joe will get an invite now that their romance has seemingly been exposed… As the old saying goes, watch this space.
