Can Georgia outscore teams to win the SEC?
All of a sudden, Georgia looks like it might be trying to turn the SEC into the old WAC, where the defenses existed just to give the offenses a short breather.
The funny thing is, it looks like it could work for the Bulldogs.
Georgia is scoring at a record pace so far this season, and it outraced Tennessee 51-44 in a rare SEC shootout on Saturday. The Bulldogs extended their school record by scoring 40 or more points in their fifth straight game, and they passed the 40-point mark in the third quarter.
Freshman running backs Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall are explosive, two of the most exciting newcomers in college football. Gurley had 131 yards and three touchdowns and Marshall had 165 yards and two touchdowns. Aaron Murray is a good quarterback to spread the ball around to all of Georgia's weapons.

And that's great. Now, can the defense do its part?
It's a little distressing to give up 478 yards, 29 first downs and 44 points (to be fair, seven of those points came on a Murray pick-six) to Tennessee at home. Especially since Georgia had two defensive stars, safety Bacarri Rambo and linebacker Alex Ogletree, back from suspension. Georgia's defense ranked 43rd in the nation in yards allowed before this week. Alabama and LSU ranked third and fourth.
Maybe once Georgia's defensive stars knock the rust off, the Bulldogs' defense will be able to match its impressive offense. And Georgia's defense did come up with three key turnovers in the last six minutes to turn back the Volunteers. If not, it'll sure be fun to watch if the Bulldogs can simply outscore the rest of the SEC on their way to a title.
