Dario Franchitti and Ashley Judd ending marriage

Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti and actress Ashley Judd are breaking up after more than 10 years of marriage.

They issued a statement to People.com on Tuesday:

"We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We'll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed."

Judd and Franchitti were married in 2001, and Judd was a regular attendee at many IndyCar races, and in 2007, when Franchitti won his first Indianapolis 500 as rain started to pour from the clouds, danced and ran down pit road in the rain in celebration.

Sandwiched around a brief 2008 stint in NASCAR, Franchitti won four straight IndyCar Series titles from 2007-2011. He was seventh last year.

The couple's split is the second high profile dissolution of a racing marriage this offseason. In November, former IndyCar and now NASCAR driver Danica Patrick announced that she was divorcing husband Paul Hospenthal after seven years of marriage. Patrick revealed to the AP on Friday that she was dating fellow NASCAR driver and Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year candidate Ricky Stenhouse.
