Texas’ first half summed up by one play: OU’s Millard hurdles two defenders, then official runs over Case McCoy on sideline (VIDEO)
At least Texas got those 2 points on a botched Oklahoma extra point early in the first half, because the rest of the first half against Oklahoma was a disaster.
Oklahoma led the Red River Rivalry 36-2 at halftime. The Sooners had outgained Texas 418 yards to 70, and had 21 first downs to just two for Texas. But really, all you need to see is one play.
Oklahoma's Trey Millard catches a pass in the flat, and hurdles two Texas defenders who have no interest in making the tackle (they weren't alone, no Longhorns defender wanted to tackle in the first half ... and they haven't in any game this season yet, for that matter). Texas cornerback Adrian Phillips goes flying to the ground after the airborne Millard rocks him, and Millard starts to chug downfield.
And that in itself would have made the play a #texasfail but it got so much better.
At the 9-second mark of the video, watch the Texas sideline. Quarterback Case McCoy is standing too close to the field and gets run over by the official running along with the play. That added a sideline interference penalty to the play, which set up one of Blake Bell's four first-half touchdowns for Oklahoma.
