Jordan Wynn has had enough: Injury-plagued Utah QB calls it quits

Another early season injury was just too much for Utah quarterback Jordan Wynn. He decided enough is enough, and it's hard to blame him.

Last season Wynn missed nine games with a left shoulder injury. Severe injuries like that require an overwhelming amount of rehabilitation. Then in Friday's overtime loss against Utah State, Wynn injured the same shoulder again, which had to trigger an incredible amount of deflation. Wynn faced another long road to get back on the field again, and he decided it was not worth it.

From what coach Kyle Whittingham told the Salt Lake Tribune, the injury will likely require another surgery (the Associated Press said it would be his fourth overall):

"He's fought so hard and he's come back so many times and he's just, right now, ready to move on," Whittingham said.

That's a sad end to a career that started with a lot of promise.

Jon Hays, who replaced Wynn last year, or freshman Travis Wilson will start at BYU on Saturday, with a different twist, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. If Hays wins the job, Wilson will still come in to provide a change of pace. He has two rushing touchdowns for the Utes. But if Wilson wins the job, it'll be his alone, with Hays as a traditional backup.
