ITV bosses are taking the mental wellbeing of their I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestants incredibly seriously, with counsellors and psychologists on standby as concern for camp mate Iain Lee continues to grow, it has been reported.
The 44-year-old comic worried producers when he talked openly about his depression and anxiety battle, with the star winning support from viewers when he broke down in tears after being forced to give up a Bushtucker Trial.

Speaking to The Sun, a show insider revealed that the producers have specialist staff on standby, explaining: “ITV take this sort of thing really seriously.
“There are always experts on hand, and if Iain or any of the other celebrities need it there is specialist support immediately available from people who know exactly what they’re doing.
“Producers have a specialist team who are familiar with the challenges that life in the jungle presents and constantly monitor all of the campmates’ behaviour at all times.

“In addition to the support that the team give Iain, he was roundly supported by his fellow campmates after his trial.”
The contestants also have a vigarous health evaluation before they enter the jungle in a bid to make sure that they are both mentally and physically fit for the gruelling reality show.
Iain confessed that he takes anti-depressants but reassured fans that he is in a good place before he joined the jungle.
He said: “I had a really good chat with my doctor who agreed. I’m in quite a good space at the moment so I’m not worried about going in and feeling suicidal.

“I take anti-depressants and meditate. Meditation is going to be the key.”
A spokesperson for ITV said: “The safety and wellbeing of all of our campmates is our number one priority.
“All campmates have 24 hour access to both medical and psycholgical support during their stay in camp.”
