Simon Cowell vows to take better care of himself as he reveals reason for shock fall

Simon Cowell has spoken out after suffering a fall in his London home on Friday, revealing that the incident has served as a wake-up call for him to take better care of himself.

The music mogul has confessed that he is “lucky” to be alive after fainting and falling down the stairs, revealing that low blood pressure is what caused the accident.

Simon was rushed to hospital in a neck brace and on a spinal board, with the star forced to miss the first live shows of The X Factor, and Alesha Dixon appearing in his place last night [29 October].

Speaking to The Sun, Simon explained: “Sometimes we get a reminder that we’re not invincible and this was certainly mine. It was a huge shock.

“They think I fainted because I had low blood pressure and so I have got to really take good care of myself to sort that out – after all I am a dad and have more responsibility than ever.”

Recalling what happened on Friday morning, Simon continued: “I’d gone to get some hot milk because I felt ropey. On the way back upstairs, I just remember feeling really dizzy.

“Next thing I know someone was putting a neck brace on me and I had a terrible headache, which must have been from me hitting the stairs. I was worried at first that I’d done some real damage.”

Admitting that it could have been “a lot worse”, Simon reassured his fans that he is now “on the mend”.

Despite reports that Simon was gearing up to defy medical advice and return to the X Factor studio last night, the father-of-one seemingly opted to put his health first as he drafted in Alesha with just five hours notice.

Instead, the star watched the live show from his home alongside his three-year-old son Eric and girlfriend Lauren Silverman.
