Strictly's Alexandra Burke 'branded a homewrecker after affair with married man'

Earlier this week it was reported that Alexandra Burke had been left “furious” after her Strictly Come Dancing rival, Gemma Atkinson, had struck up a romance with the singer’s dance partner, Gorka Marquez.

The former X Factor winner was said to be concerned that Gemma and Gorka’s growing relationship could hurt her chances of winning the dance show, however, sources have now claimed that Alexandra is getting a “taste of her own medicine” amid claims that she was once branded a “homewrecker” after stealing another woman’s husband.

The Sun have reported that Alexandra, who is now dating Josh Ginnelly, had an affair with married dad Russell Brooks in 2008.

Brooks was living with his wife Tracie and their three-year-old daughter at the time, and confessed to the fling with Alexandra after he and his wife split.

Speaking to the publication, a source shared: “Alexandra is really unhappy that Gemma has gone off with Gorka and she has made her feelings clear.

“She is fiercely competitive and doesn’t want anything to get in the way of her success.

“There are those here who understand her concerns, but there are others who think she can’t complain given what she has done in the past.

“Stealing someone’s husband is a lot worse than dating another woman’s dance partner.”

Tracie has also alleged that Alexandra met Russell in 2007, five years after she and the web designer tied the knot, and within weeks an affair had begun.

Speaking at the time news of the affair broke, Tracie said: “Russell and I had been married for five years when I began to feel there was someone else.

“It wasn’t until after we’d finally split for good that he admitted he’d been seeing someone all along. I was really shocked.”

She also claimed that soon after the split Russell and Alexandra were officially “in a relationship”, with Alexandra “immediately” posting loved-up photos with Russell on social media.

Alexandra previously insisted that she only became close with Russell in March 2008, after the breakdown of his and Tracie’s marriage.

Tracie said: “I’m told Alexandra comes across as a sexy but sweet girl. Obviously this is not true.

“As far as I’m concerned she must have known Russell was married. There’s nothing sweet about that.”

Alexandra went on to win the X Factor in 2008 and is now second favourite to win this year’s Strictly, with odds of 3/1.
