After news of Liz’s death was made public on Tuesday, filming at the Manchester set was brought to a halt, with last night’s episode of the show being dedicated to the beloved actress.

Speaking to The Sun, an ITV source shared: “Filming was brought to a sudden halt on Tuesday morning and the cast and crew were called to a meeting.

“Show bosses informed them of her death and told everyone they could take time off if they needed to, to process the news.

“It has really hit the cast hard, especially some of the characters who have been on the show for years.”

It is believed that Liz’s family are currently in contact with Coronation Street bosses in order to plan a suitable tribute to the star.

Liz’s husband of over 50 years, Don Ibbotson, announced her death in a statement on Tuesday morning.

It read: “We are devastated and heartbroken at the passing of our much-loved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, the incredible Liz Dawn.

“Liz died peacefully last night at home with her loving family around her.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathy at this very sad time to Liz’s devoted husband Don, her loving children Graham, Dawn, Ann and Julie, their families and her six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
