Strictly Come Dancing bosses to break their own rule and allow Love Island contestants on the show

The BBC have always been openly against having reality stars compete on their much-loved show Strictly Come Dancing, however, the corporation could be set to break their own rule after falling for the charm of Love Island, it has been reported.

The Beeb are said to be on their way to pulling a huge U-turn when it comes to casting celebrities for their flagship show, with the producers “obsessed” with ITV2’s standout programme of the summer.

A source explained to The Sun: “Though they don’t want to admit it, everyone on the production team behind ‘Strictly’ is obsessed with ‘Love Island’.

“The casting team have struggled to get big names involved and as ‘Love Island’ appeals to a range of audiences, it makes sense to get them involved.”

The revelation follows reports that the BBC haven’t been able to easily secure talent for the upcoming series of Strictly, with it being claimed that some stars are reluctant to sign up as a result of the ‘Strictly Curse’, which has seen multiple stars have their relationship come to an end after appearing in the dance competition.

So far, celebs such as Gemma Atkinson, Mollie King, and Aston Merrygold have been announced as part of 2017’s line-up, and the insider went on to admit that the calibre of celebrities this year is “dire”.

They shared: “It’s a dire line-up and everyone knows it. Some of them are bound to only last weeks as no-one has ever heard of them.

“Even staff at the BBC have admitted they had to Google some of them. They’ve really struggled with big names this year.”

Does this mean that the likes of Camilla Thurlow and Kem Cetinay could end up being late additions to the show?

We sure hope so.
