Game of Thrones' Kit Harington filmed '15 hours of fake footage' to protect plot

In case you somehow missed it, Game Of Thrones season 7 is set to return to US screens tonight, making its UK debut tomorrow evening at 9pm.

Although the launch of the brand new series is exciting news for all Game Of Thrones’ fans, it also comes dogged with the usual fear of spoilers, and star Kit Harington has revealed that the cast and crew took extra measures to ensure that the plot wasn’t ruined before it aired.

Kit plays Jon Snow in the show.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel, Kit – who plays Jon Snow in the show – insisted that he filmed hours of fake scenes for the new series in a bid to avoid the real plot from leaking.

He explained: “What I can say about this season is: we had a lot of paparazzi following us around, especially when we were in Spain, and we did fake some scenes.

“We put together people in situations where we knew the paparazzi were around so they’d take photos and that would get on the internet to fake scenes so people would think they were real.”

And Kit went on to reveal that these scenes were definitely not quick to shoot, adding that on one of his days off he ended up shooting no less than three fake five-hour long scenes.

Yikes – rather him than us…

This revelation is particularly interesting as late last year images of characters Theon Greyjoy, Jon Snow, Davos and Missandei filming together began circling the internet, with GoT fans certain that it meant that the group had finally crossed paths:

Needless to say, it looks like nothing is for certain in Westeros…
