Justin Theroux on That Nearly Naked ‘Leftovers’ Poster: ‘Sorry, Mom’

After his character went through the wringer on The Leftovers — and by wringer we mean, dying multiple times and having his doppelganger literally pull his beating heart out of his chest — star Justin Theroux was relieved to try something a little lighter for his next project, The Lego Ninjago Movie. “It feels nice to make silly kid jokes,” he said during a visit to Yahoo’s Comic-Con studio. But, he added, “I’m sad the show’s over, because I don’t get to see the cast and the directors as much as I used to.”

But Ninjago star Olivia Munn wouldn’t let the subject rest without posing the question all Leftovers fans are dying to know: “Did you keep up your ab work? Because I feel like that was a big ad component.”

In case you missed it, she’s talking about this:

Theroux admitted to being a little taken aback by the revealing final-season poster. (“His pants can’t get lower!” marveled Munn.) “They were like, ‘Let’s shoot the poster, let’s do a really arty [photo]… And then it’s on a bus and you’re like, ‘Aw, man,'” he said with a laugh, burying his face in his hand. “Sorry mom.”

The Leftovers is available to watch on HBO on Demand and HBOGo.
