One Direction mark their seven-year anniversary

Yesterday was One Direction’s seventh anniversary, with July 23rd 2010 being the poignant day that saw Simon Cowell and co. bring together Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik to make the most successful boyband in history.

Although the group have since gone their separate ways, announcing their hiatus in 2015, all four standing members of the band were sure to mark their anniversary in the sweetest way.

Zayn, who quit the group in March 2015, remained schtum in the face of the affectionate Twitter trend created by 1D fans, but Liam, Harry, Louis and Niall all proved that they haven’t forgotten their roots – in spite of their successful careers as solo artists.

And Hollywood film star in Harry’s case.

Liam was the first to tweet, writing: “#7YearsOfOneDirection Wow! We’ve been on an incredible journey. Special thanks to all of our fans for being there.

“You inspire me everyday.”

Louis added: “#7YearsOfOneDirection wow where has the time gone ! All the love to the lads and of course you fans ! Thanks for sticking around :)”.

Then Harry wrote: “1. Thank you. 2. Thank you. 3. Thank you. 4. Thank you. 5. Thank you. 6. Thank you. 7. Thank you. Love you. H”.

Finally, Niall wrote this morning: “7 years. Wowwww! Thank you all for everything . You are all life changers”.

The boys’ fans were overjoyed to see them acknowledge their anniversary, with many tweeting the hashtag to share their own happy One Direction memories from the past seven years:

Since going on hiatus, all members of One Direction have enjoyed huge success in the charts and appear to be on great terms as they regularly promote and support each other’s work on social media and in interviews.
