Prince Harry sent Ant McPartlin a handwritten note to thank him for speaking out on depression

When Ant McPartlin checked into rehab for addiction and depression back in June, he was inundated with support from a host of his famous friends – including Robbie Williams and This Morning host Holly Willoughby.

However, Ant has now revealed that Prince Harry also reached out to him, thanking the star for publicly speaking about depression in a handwritten note.

Prince Harry recently admitted to seeking professional help after he struggled to cope with the death of his mother, Princess Diana, as a child, and both he and his brother, Prince William, are incredibly dedicated to making mental health issues less of a taboo.

Speaking about the Prince’s kind gesture, Ant told The Sun: “I woke up this morning, getting ready to come here, and was given an envelope.

“It was a handwritten note from Harry sending all of his best wishes on behalf of him, William and Catherine and telling me well done for speaking out.

“Obviously he leads the Heads Together charity, so it’s something he encourages.

“I wish I’d spoken out a lot earlier. But what a great time to get that letter. Brilliant. Thanks, Haz.”

Ant’s revelation came as he lifted the lid on his addiction battle, opening up in a candid new interview about his dependence on prescription medication and alcohol following botched knee surgery that left him in agony.

The Geordie TV star has revealed that if he didn’t seek help when he did then he “could have died”, adding that he has now checked out of rehab and is clean of all drugs, except paracetamol.
