Caroline Flack admits that she cries filming Love Island

It seems that everyone and their dog is obsessed with Love Island this year, with celebrities like Stormzy to politicians like Jeremy Corbyn all getting involved and having their say on who should win this year’s series.

However, nobody loves the ITV2 show more than its host, Caroline Flack – and the star has now admitted that she is so emotionally invested in the programme that she cries during filming.

Speaking to The Sun, Caroline has confessed that she ruins filming by sobbing her way through the emotionally charged recouplings, going on to add that she often offers comfort to the jilted girls.

The star explained: “I find it so hard to mask my feelings when I’m there – I cried filming an episode recently.

“I ruin a ton of shots because they can’t show me sobbing – everyone would be like, ‘Why is the presenter crying her heart out?’

“And the thing is I then watch it back on TV a day later and cry again. Why am I crying? I was there!”

Discussing Camilla Thurlow, who was brutally dumped onscreen last month, Caroline continued: “When I saw Camilla after her heartbreak I had to talk to her and see if she was all right.

“That’s a girl thing – we’ve all had our hearts broken and then had to be around an ex.

“It strikes a chord – you watch what she went through and go ‘ugh, there’s that feeling again’.”

This year’s series of Love Island has enjoyed unprecedented success, with more than two million people tuning into recent episodes – a new record for an ITV2 show.
