Jamie Foxx let Ed Sheeran live with him before he found fame

Since becoming one of the most famous faces on the planet, Ed Sheeran has been able to call himself a friend to many of his fellow A-list stars, including the likes of Taylor Swift and Niall Horan.

However, one celebrity was there for Ed before he’d even found fame, with American star Jamie Foxx letting the flame-haired Brit live with him in Los Angeles after a chance meeting.

In fact, Ed borderline stalked Jamie as he turned up at his radio show in a bid to play him his music, which Jamie was kind enough to listen to.

Afterwards, the Hollywood star was left so impressed by Ed’s talent that he let him live with him and his family for six weeks.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Jamie explained: “Ed Sheeran slept on my couch for six weeks before he was famous. I was doing a radio show in Los Angeles and he knew that we do music so he came to my radio show.

“I said: ‘Well let me hear [your music],’ he comes to my crib, he plays and I’m like: ‘You’re incredible.’

“I said: ‘Listen, I know you don’t have anywhere to go, just chill here.’ I was giving him food and my daughter was like: ‘Who do you have over here now?’

“I would always champion the artist.”

However, Ed wasn’t just living the high life whilst at Casa de Foxx, with Jamie testing his skills in front of a live audience in a bid to kickstart his career.

The star continued: “I took him down to this show I was doing every Monday and there was like 800 black people. Just the best musicians.

“And he pops out with his little red hair and a ukulele… And he went out there on that ukulele and got a standing ovation for 12 minutes. The rest is history.”

Well, there you have it – who knew that we owed Ed’s huge success, in part, to Jamie Foxx, eh?
