Robbie Williams offers support to Ant McPartlin: 'He's been where Ant is and wants to help'

Now it has been reported that singer Robbie Williams is keen to do all that he can to help the Geordie star, with Robbie reaching out as he has received treatment for similar problems in the past.

As well as expressing his desire to help to Ant himself, Robbie has reportedly reached out to Ant’s co-star and best friend, Declan Donnelly, on how best to help his friend beat his demons.

Speaking to The Sun, a source explained: “Robbie has battled the same demons as Ant and come out the other side, so he knows he must be going through hell.

“He felt he could offer advice. He has been where Ant is himself, and wanted to help.

“He has had conversations with Dec about the most helpful points of the treatment and what he found most difficult and he has given a lot of advice about how to support his friend as much as possible.

“Robbie has also sent Ant a few messages directly. He made it clear that if he wants to talk to him, he can.”

Ant is expected to stay in rehab for at least two months, with it being revealed that his addiction to painkillers started when he suffered a botched knee operation two years ago, leaving him in constant agony.

The pain reportedly left him hooked on Tramadol, with the star also using alcohol in a bid to numb the pain.

Dec is said to have been concerned about his best friend but was unaware of the extent of his demons, with the star being instrumental in organising help for Ant after Ant broke down in an emotional chat last week.

ITV have since offered Ant a year off from his work commitments, which includes fronting I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! alongside Dec in November, although it is expected that the 41 year old will have recovered by then.

Both Dec and Ant’s wife, Lisa Armstrong, have reached out to publicly thank fans for their support after news of Ant’s rehabilitation broke.
