Britain's Got Talent final voting breakdown revealed

On Saturday night, Tokio Myers became the shock but worthy winner of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, with it being widely believed that Amanda Holden’s Golden Buzzer act, comic Daliso Chaponda, would take home the gold.

Daliso ended up taking third place with eight-year-old magician Issy Simpson landing in second, however, newly released voting stats reveal that Tokio was never really at any risk of losing the top spot.

Tokio was at no risk of losing the top spot.

In fact, ITV have revealed that the talented pianist took home 24.2% of the final vote, with Issy over 6% behind him at 17.5%.

Rather awkwardly, mindreading magicians DNA took home just 3% of the public vote in last place with nine-year-old comedian Ned Woodman closely following at 3.2%

The full voting stats for the Britain’s Got Talent final are as follows:

Tokio Myers – 24.2%
Issy Simpson – 17.5%
Daliso Chaponda – 14.7%
Matt Edwards – 7.9%
The Pensionalities – 6.9%
Kyle Tomlinson – 6.7%
Sarah Ikumu – 5.6%
Missing People Choir – 5.2%
MerseyGirls – 5.1%
Ned Woodman – 3.2%
DNA – 3%

ITV also confirmed that 8.2million viewers tuned in to the final after they moved it from its planned Sunday night slot in order to avoid clashing with Ariana Grande’s One Love Manchester benefit concert.

Although viewers were generally happy with Tokio taking home the £250,000 prize fund, the final was still racked with controversy when no less than three acts made mistakes in their final performances.

DNA guessed the wrong number.

DNA had previously wowed viewers and the judges alike with their mindboggling talent, made an awkward error as they asked judge David Walliams what page number of a book he had stopped on.

Darren, 29, then wrote down a number but was left mortified when it was revealed that he had written down ’81’ and David had stopped on page ’31’.

Apologising for the mistake, the embarrassed hopeful said: “Very close. I’m going to change it. I did get 81, excuse me.”

The rest of the act went smoothly and left everybody suitably amazed, especially the judges who gave Darren and his co-star Andrew a standing ovation and reassured them that making a mistake just proves how hard what they do is.

Ned forgot his script.

Meanwhile, controversial schoolboy comic Ned Woodman was left embarrassed when he forgot his words during his performance.

The nine year old stumbled over his script, leaving an awkward silence as he tried to remember what part of his stand-up routine came next, although he was thankfully able to recover and continue with the rest of his performance as planned.

Julia panicked as her chair toppled.

Finally, Alesha Dixon’s Golden Buzzer act, MerseyGirls, left viewers concerned when Julia Carlile almost fell off a chair during their dance routine, with a look of panic sweeping across the teen’s face as the rest of the troupe quickly grabbed onto her arms to steady her.

Tellingly, the three acts that suffered mistakes ended up in the bottom three of last night’s result, with DNA receiving the fewest viewer votes, Ned coming in at second to last and MerseyGirls finishing third from the bottom.
