Missing People's Choir's Britain's Got Talent performance sparks new lead in 14-year missing person case

The Missing People’s Choir might have missed out on winning Britain’s Got Talent at the weekend, but it appears that they might have succeeded in doing something even greater, with their moving performance reportedly sparking a potential new lead in an unsolved missing person case that dates back 14 years.

During Saturday night’s final, the group had images of missing loved ones flash up on the screen behind them as they sang, with one of the people broadcast to BGT’s millions of viewers being Tom Moore, who disappeared in 2003.

Aged 31 when he vanished in Italy all those years ago, a possible sighting of Tom was reported after Saturday’s performance.

A 15-year-old boy sent a video and images to Tom’s missing person website following the choir’s BGT appearance, with Tom’s brother Ben telling The Sun: “Of all of the images I’ve been sent, this is probably the closest and most realistic to Tom.

“It feels like it could be a realistic chance that we might actually find Tom.”

The hopeful news comes after police searched a graveyard for a missing teenage mum, Natalie Putt, whose image was shown by the Missing People’s Choir during the live Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals.

It is thought that her photo might have triggered a breakthrough in the investigation of her disappearance, with detectives announcing on Tuesday that they will be exhuming four graves in a West Midlands cemetery.

Natalie was just 17 years old when she went missing in September 2003 after popping out to go to the local shop, leaving behind her 11-week-old son.

Her half-sister Rebecca Coggins said of the investigation’s apparent breakthrough: “A picture of Natalie was shown on Britain’s Got Talent last Friday during the Missing People Choir’s performance and it seems to have sparked interest in her case again.

“She is the missing piece from her family – not a day goes by when I do not think and miss her, she was a special girl with her whole life ahead of her.

“Someone knows something, people do not just disappear – all we need is a little chink and the police will do the rest.”

The Missing People’s Choir is made up of singers whose loved ones have gone missing.
