Harry Styles defends young female fanbase yet again

Harry Styles has once again come to the defence of his young female fanbase, hitting back at snobby critics who undermine the music taste of younger people.

This isn’t the first time that Harry has lashed out at the “unfair” dismissal of his fanbase’s taste in music, and we have a funny feeling that this probably won’t be the last time either.

Harry has defended his fans yet again.

Speaking to NPR, the One Direction star explained: “The thing is, people stereotype it as their attraction to the music is something other than the music, and I think that’s unfair.

“And honestly, I think it’s writing people off. It’s kind of rude. Everyone’s musical taste is different, and there’s no right or wrong answer.

“So I don’t know who’s the person in the world who is like – that guy has good music taste.”

Harry went on to insist that his loyal fanbase would have been honest with him if they didn’t like his solo sound, adding: “I actually think that the kind of fans that we’ve had are the most honest.

“Everyone meets those people where they like something and they’ll never admit they’ll like it. I’d rather someone be honest with me, and I wanted to be honest with the album.”

Previously, Harry proved himself as a feminist as he stood up for the music taste of teen girls, ranting: “Who’s to say that young girls who like pop music – short for popular, right? – have worse musical taste than a 30-year-old hipster guy?

“That’s not up to you to say. Music is something that’s always changing. There’s no goal posts.

Harry’s self-titled debut solo album has been critically acclaimed.

“Young girls like the Beatles. You gonna tell me they’re not serious? How can you say young girls don’t get it? They’re our future.

“Our future doctors, lawyers, mothers, presidents, they kind of keep the world going. Teenage-girl fans – they don’t lie.

“If they like you, they’re there. They don’t act ‘too cool’. They like you, and they tell you.”

And, to be quite honest, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
