Liam Gallagher denies that Oasis will be reuniting at Manchester benefit concert

Last night, social media erupted with speculation that Oasis will be reuniting at this Sunday’s Manchester attack benefit concert, ‘One Love’, after The Black Eyed Peas’ Taboo listed the band as one of the confirmed acts in a tweet.

The star shared the poster for the gig and tagged artists who are performing, including a tag for Oasis.

The move sent Twitter into meltdown, with many Oasis fans believing that brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher were going to put their differences aside for the night in aid of the victims of the attack on their home city of Manchester.

However, Liam has now poured cold water over the rumours, much to the disappointment of his followers.

Citing scheduling conflicts and his ongoing feud with his brother, Liam told BBC Radio 1 this morning: “I’m up for it but I think we [his solo act] are playing in Germany [on Sunday] so we are already booked but I would’ve loved to have done it.”

Speaking about Noel, he added: “Everyone knows I love our kid. He doesn’t speak to me, we don’t speak to each other.

“I’ll speak to him someday, it’s all very sad but we will get over it.”

Taboo had already apologised for the gaffe on social media, deleting the original post and reposting the image with the correct line-up tagged, writing: “Sorry for the confusion folks this the right post.”

He later added: “My bad folks on original post – human error.”

Tickets for the One Love Manchester concert went on sale at 10am today [1 June], with 50,000 expected to attend the show, whose glittering line up includes the likes of Justin Bieber, Niall Horan, Take That and Coldplay.

Ariana Grande is set to headline, with all proceeds going towards the victims of last Monday’s terrorist attack, which saw 22 people lose their lives and countless others suffer serious injury when suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated a homemade nail bomb after Ariana’s sold-out show at Manchester Arena.

Following the attack, Liam held his own concert in aid of the victims, taking to the stage at the O2 Ritz Manchester on Tuesday 30 May.

The star paid tribute to the 22 people who lost their lives by lighting 22 candles and all profits were donated to the Manchester Evening News’ British Red Cross appeal, which was set up to help those affected by the tragedy.

Speaking about his decision to put on the show, Liam said at the time: “I just knew I had to. I’m not in it for the money. The gig was going to happen anyway and we all have to do what we can.

“I want to try and help pick people up. People like me, doing what we do, it’s our duty to give people a good time.”

Noel also spoke out on the attack, previously telling Radio X: “I’ve got a teenage daughter, and you know, she may well have been there.

“But bar a couple of friends of friends who were in hospital and two very close shaves, all the people that I know didn’t get involved in it or weren’t caught up in it. But you know, I think this particular atrocity will take quite a while to heal.”

Noel and Liam have been at loggerheads with each other since Oasis split in 2009 after cancelling a headline slot at V Festival.

Liam was left unimpressed when Noel released a statement saying that they cancelled due to his brother’s hangover, with Liam even filing a lawsuit against Noel.

After a further string of cancellations and reports of backstage fights, Noel quit in August, saying in a statement: “It is with some sadness and great relief, I quit Oasis tonight.

“People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”
