Jeremy Corbyn gets a rockstar's reception as he walks on stage at Libertines gig
Theresa May and the Conservative party might be ahead in the polls at the moment, but Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is proving to be ahead in the popularity contest among young people and celebs.
Just days after sitting down with grime artist Jme, and the subsequent launch of the campaign #Grime4Corbyn, Jeremy stepped out on stage at a Libertines gig to give a moving political speech – and he was given a true rockstar reception by fans of the band.
Crowds at Prenton Park in Tranmere were overjoyed when the politician stepped on stage before the gig, with Jeremy appealing to their love on football in his well-received speech.
Reiterating Labour’s claims that Premier League clubs aren’t fulfilling their promise to invest 5% of their income into local football, he told the cheering crowds: “I love football. I want it for everybody.
“Those very wealthy clubs in the Premiership, pay your five per cent so we’ve got grassroots football for everyone.”
As Jeremy continued, the crowd erupted into cheers of “Jezza! Jezza!”, with Corbyn seemingly winning them all over.
Later, Jeremy took to his official Twitter page to write: “Great to speak at Prenton Park to this incredible crowd about Labour’s transformational manifesto that will deliver #ForTheMany. #GE2017”.
And Libertines’ fans also took to social media to discuss the experience, praising Jeremy for his unexpected appearance:
I'm watching The Libertines and actual Jeremy Corbyn has just rocked up on stage. Now that's how you do politics.

Others took to social media to poke fun at the differences between Corbyn and his main political competitor, Theresa May:
