WATCH: James Corden pays emotional tribute to London terror attack victims

In case you missed it, James Corden has brought his popular US chat show, The Late Late Show, over to London for one week only, with the star set to be joined by a whole host of British legends over the next few days – including the likes of David Beckham, Kit Harington and Harry Styles.

Last night saw The Late Late Show make its London debut, with James kicking the whole thing off with a poignant and emotional tribute to the victims of Saturday night’s terrorist attack at London Bridge.

Standing outside of the Houses of Parliament, James replaced his usual opening monologue with an inspiring message for his viewers – encouraging them to celebrate the city of London.

James delivered a defiant message about his home town.

Speaking to the camera, James explained: “All of our Late Late Show staff were out in London on Saturday night having a great time, and we’re all staying in a hotel about two minutes away from where the attack took place.

“I’m so sad when I think about all the times since I took this job that I’ve had to open our show talking about such atrocities, trying to find the right words to say is impossible, because there are none.

“Some people might say it’s a strange time to do a variety show in this city. I couldn’t disagree more. A lot’s going to happen here in the next few days. We’re going to elect a new prime minister, and just behind that building there is the Houses of Parliament, a building that represents democracy, something that the people who carried out this attack hate.”

The father-of-one went on to defiantly reveal that he was determined to make the London shows the “silliest” and “stupidest” ever in response to the hateful attack, sharing: “We are going to bring you the silliest, stupidest, most fun-packed show we’ve ever made for you to celebrate London and Britain and everything it has to offer, and the people who carried out the attack would hate that.

“I’m so proud to be broadcasting here, from my hometown. I’m proud to show off its beauty, its diversity and its stoic British determination to let nothing or anybody stand in our way.

“This is not a country that feels afraid. Thank you for joining us for what we hope will be a memorable week from London.”

As well as Nicole, last night’s guests also included Ed Sheeran who made his Carpool Karaoke debut by showing off how many Malteasers he can fit in his mouth.

The Late Late Show will also be filming in London today [7 June] and tomorrow [8 June] before returning back to its home in the States.
