Golden Globes 2018: Mariah Carey begs for forgiveness after accidentally stealing Meryl Streep's seat
Mariah Carey found herself in a bit of a sticky situation at last night’s [7 January] Golden Globes, with the pop diva being left mortified when she accidentally stole acting legend Meryl Streep’s seat.
Oops.
Taking to Twitter to share details of her faux pas, Mariah revealed that she begged for forgiveness when Meryl returned to her table only to find that her seat was now occupied.
The singer wrote: “Got caught mingling on the way to the loo during a commercial break.. took the first seat available, happens to be right next to Steven Spielberg.
“Cut to next commercial break, guess who comes back to her seat…

Mariah was at the ceremony as she was nominated for the Best Original Song award alongside Marc Shaiman for the title song of ‘The Star’.
The mother-of-two lost out to Keala Settle’s ‘This Is Me’ from The Greatest Showman, but Mariah was gracious in her loss, tweeting: “Congratulations ‘This Is Me’!
“A beautifully written song and very deserving.
“Marc & I will try another year!”
The star also followed the black dress code as part of the Time’s Up initiative, donning a skintight Dolce & Gabbana dress for the occasion.
