Liam Payne has collaborated with Ed Sheeran for his debut solo single

Just when we thought that we couldn’t be any more excited for Liam Payne’s solo music, it has been reported that the One Direction star has collaborated with none other than actual Ed Sheeran for his debut track.

We’re going to be honest, we don’t think that we will ever be ready for this.

Ed and Liam make quite the dream team.

Liam apparently jetted from Los Angeles to London to meet with Ed after our fave ginger-haired popstar told him that he had written a song with him in mind, and the pair wasted no time in getting the track recorded.

Speaking to The Sun, an insider explained: “Liam and Ed have been friends for years, ever since Ed first wrote for One Direction on their debut album.

“The collaboration actually came about very quickly, earlier this year. Liam was in Los Angeles and was told that Ed was beginning to write a song with Liam in mind.

“Liam rushed back to the UK and the pair of them wrote the track together and then recorded it.

“With Ed’s expertise in creating a hit Liam knows they can’t go wrong. They have produced something special together. Having Ed on board is a clever move too, as it means he will reach music fans beyond just 1D obsessives.”

The news of an Ed collaboration comes after hip-hop trio Migos confirmed that they had also worked with Liam on his new album and have even filmed a music video for his forthcoming release with them.

However, Liam is reportedly keen to maintain a pop edge to his solo work, rubbishing speculation that he is looking to establish a rap career for himself.

Liam welcomed a son earlier this year.

Liam, who welcomed his first baby in March, is the only member of One Direction to not release solo music following their hiatus at the end of 2015.

Niall Horan was the first to release a solo track, dropping ‘This Town’ last year followed by ‘Slow Hands’ last week, meanwhile, Louis Tomlinson collaborated with Steve Aoki for their chart-topping anthem ‘Just Hold On’ back in December, and Harry Styles released his debut solo single ‘Sign Of The Times’ last month.

Louis, Harry and Niall have all already released solo music.

Harry will be the first member of One Direction to release an album when his self-titled record hits shelves this coming Friday (12th May) and he is also the first to go on a world-tour, hitting the road later this year in an international tour that sold out in seconds.

No matter how long it takes one thing is for sure; we seriously can’t wait to hear Liam’s new sound.
