Loose Women and This Morning cancelled due to Theresa May's election announcement - viewers left fuming
Daytime TV fans have been left fuming after Theresa May’s general election announcement saw both This Morning and Loose Women get cancelled.
Whilst Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford were hosting This Morning earlier today, Prime Minister May announced that a snap general election will take place on June 8th, prompting ITV to switch to rolling news coverage.
To rub salt into the wound, Loose Women quickly announced on social media that today’s scheduled show will not be airing due to the election announcement, and fans took to Twitter to express their outrage:

Speaking about her decision to hold an election, May explained outside 10 Downing Street: “The country is coming together but Westminster is not.
“I have concluded the only way to guarantee certainty and security for years ahead is to hold this election.
“It is with strong conviction that I believe it is necessary to secure a strong and stable leadership this country needs.”
Meanwhile, Kerry Katona was midway through a poignant interview about mental health on This Morning before the show was pulled from the air.
Eight years ago, Kerry hit the headlines when she appeared on the same show and slurred her way through her interview, sparking backlash from viewers.
Opening up before they were pulled, the former Atomic Kitten star explained: “It was eight years ago that I was on the famous couch, the infamous interview, me slurring and that was due to medication, pure medication.
“Even now I have episodes where I talk a million miles an hour and then I go really down. I’m still on medication and I’m not ashamed to admit that.
“Since that infamous interview, I’m still ridiculed. There’s still a stigma attached to me. I’m still climbing that ladder to get rid of that stigma. It’s about we got rid of this grey area and this stigma of mental health.”
Her comments come after Prince William and Lady Gaga hit the headlines earlier today as they joined forces in a bid to end the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
In a video posted by Kensington Palace, Gaga can be seen speaking to the Prince via Facetime, explaining: “For me waking up every day and feeling sad and going on stage is something that is very hard to describe.
“There’s a lot of shame attached to mental illness. You feel like something’s wrong with you. And in my life you go look at all these beautiful and wonderful things that I have and I should be so happy.
“But you can’t help it if that in the morning you wake up, you are so tired, you are so sad, you are so full of anxiety and the shakes that you can barely think.”
Just yesterday, Prince William’s brother, Prince Harry, also opened up about his battle with mental health following the tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana, when he was just 12 years old.
