Katie and Danny met online and after a few weeks together he turned violent, raping and beating Katie in a hotel room, days later, he asked her to visit an Internet cafe and arranged for his accomplice, Stefan Sylvestre, to intercept her en route and throw sulphuric acid in her face.

Katie was put in an induced coma for 12 days and had to have all of the skin removed from her face, with surgeons rebuilding it with skin grafts, undergoing dozens of operations in total since the attack.

The star was also left blind in one eye and with breathing problems, with Danny being given two life sentences, serving a minimum of 16 years, and Stefan receiving a life sentence with a minimum of 12 years.

Now Katie has sold the rights for her story to become a film, but admitted that she isn’t sure if she will be able to be involved in the making of the movie.

Speaking to OK! magazine, the mum-of-one explained: “The film rights have been bought, but I really don’t know much more about it than that.

“It’s impossible to say while it’s still a hypothetical situation, but it would be difficult to go back to that time and relive it.

Katie doesn’t know if she can be involved in the film.

“I’d have to think long and hard about how involved I’d be.”

Katie bravely chose to waive her right to anonymity following the attack and has opened up about her ordeal in various documentaries and books, also launching her charitable organisation The Katie Piper Foundation, which raises awareness for burns victims and other disfigurement injuries.
