BAFTA Craft Award nominations celebrate 2016's television treats
The British Film and Television Academy has announced the nominations for its latest awards to celebrate our favourite industry.
The Craft Awards honour the behind the scenes (s)heroes as opposed to those up front and central, but whose work is invaluable in making the overall production fly.
While the headlines may be about the actors and directors, they’re dependent on the production values to turn their show into a TV juggernaut. BAFTA recognises 20 departments which do just that.

Planet Earth II leads the way with nine nominations, including, unsurprisingly, photography and editing. The Crown, the sumptuous Netflix production chronicling the life of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, has seven nominations, including Production Design.

John Le Carre’s The Night Manager is again in the running for plaudits, with six nominations, including one for Titles/Graphic Identity. I recall a lot of love for that very Bond-ish opening credit sequence by Los Angeles based company Elastic, who nailed director Susanne Bier’s brief: “combine luxurious imagery with weaponry”.
