Harry Styles Knocks Ed Sheeran Off The Number One Spot With Debut Single

In news that will surprise pretty much nobody, Harry Styles has claimed the Number 1 spot on the Official Singles Chart – knocking streaming behemoth Ed Sheeran off of pole position.

Come on, it had been 13 weeks – someone had to do it, right?

Harry’s debut single, Sign Of The Times, had won praise from fans and critics alike – pipped Ed’s track, Shape Of You, to the top spot by just over 3,000 copies.

Sign Of The Times was also downloaded 39,000 times and had accumulated 3.5 million streams in the seven days since its release.

Blimey.

Harry’s first ever solo Number 1 came after the release date of his upcoming album (self-titled darling, of course) was announced. ‘Harry Styles’ will be released on May 12, and includes not only Sign Of The Times but nine other tracks too.

The album artwork was released this week, which sent fans into a quite understandable meltdown. Not only that, he’ll be joining Jimmy Fallon on Saturday Night Live tonight, in one of his first televised appearances for the new album.

Not content with turning the world upside down with his debut album and single this year, Monsieur Styles also has a film to promote this year – Dunkirk – which is set for release in the UK on the 21st July.

Bit of a busy bee, this one!
