The Diana Award team up with Kinky Boots for National Kindess Day

In case you missed it, Friday 31st March was National Kindness Day and The Diana Award felt that there was no better West End musical to partner with than hit show Kinky Boots, which celebrates diversity, kindness and – above all – love.

The Diana Award hoped that the special gala performance of Kinky Boots would pay tribute to the late Princess Diana and her kind-hearted nature as we approach the 20th anniversary of her tragic death.

Guests including Sinitta, Jess Wright, Esther Rantzen, Stacy Francis and Francesca Newman-Young attended the special performance last week, with the money raised going towards the Diana Award’s successful peer-to-peer anti-bullying programme, which empowers young people to tackle bullying in their school and communities.

Speaking about their partnership with Kinky Boots, Tessy Ojo, CEO of the Diana Award, shared: “Our partnership with Kinky Boots for Kindness Day is the perfect fit for The Diana Award.

“The show is a musical celebration of understanding, acceptance, compassion and kindness and our collective responsibility for the wellbeing of others, which fits very much with our themes of compassion, kindness and service, for this 20th anniversary year in memory of Princess Diana.”

The Diana Award was set up in memory of The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, and her belief that young people have the power to change the world for the better. It is committed to fostering change through practical action with young people and created National Kindness Day to celebrate Princess Diana’s values of compassion, kindness and service to others, irrespective of their culture, race or background.

Kinky Boots launched at the Adelphi Theatre in 2015 and has become a favourite with theatre-goers having won every major Best Musical Award as well as three Olivier Awards – including the Best Actor in a Musical gong for Matt Henry, who plays Lola.
