Little Mix pay tribute to the LGBT+ community with Secret Love Song performance

In case you missed it, Little Mix are currently taking America by storm as they support mega-babe Ariana Grande on her Dangerous Woman tour.

The girls already enjoy monumental success here in the UK and across Europe and have won over even more fans during their US performances, however, last night’s gig at Kansas City was even more special than usual.

Performing their popular hit single ‘Secret Love Song’, Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock dedicated the track to the LGBT+ community before Jade took to her Instagram account to share a photo from the show.

Alongside the snapshot, she wrote: “Singing Secret Love Song meant more than usual tonight. To our LGBT fans…please don’t ever be afraid to be who you are.”

The sentiment was much appreciated by Little Mix’s huge fanbase, with many taking to Twitter to both praise and thank the girls for their supportive words:

Ever since it was released, Little Mix fans have associated Secret Love Song, which is about forbidden love, with the LGBT+ community and Jade had previously admitted that she’d always pictured it as an anthem for fans struggling with their sexuality.

The girls also performed the track in tribute to the victims of last year’s Orlando massacre, which saw 49 people tragically lose their lives in a shooting at a gay nightclub in Florida.

Speaking ahead of the tribute performance, Perrie said at the time: “We want to dedicate this song to Orlando. This one goes out to all the people. All the families that have been left behind; who are hurting right now.

“We feel like this song is quite relevant to that.”
