There are two ways to look at this one: Virginia Tech is offering an eighth grader, so there's no doubt they're in the door early and he'll always remember that. On the other hand, a prospect getting a Power-5 offer as a middle schooler is almost certain to be one of the nation's top overall recruits a few years down the road. Either way, VT is looking to solidify its standing in the Tidewater, and if the Hokie coaches can do just that in the coming classes, there's no doubt they'll have an outstanding shot to land Grimes when the time comes.
