Police chase ends with teen driver dead after pursuit

A critical incident investigation has been launched after a 15-year-old boy was killed when crashing into a truck while being chased by police on the NSW mid-north coast.

The pursuit began after officers attempted to stop the teen’s vehicle in Kempsey at approximately 2am on Friday.

Authorities chased the teen for 50 kms up the Pacific Highway before the boy’s vehicle collided with a B-double truck.

According to the ABC the NSW Police said a report would be prepared for the coroner.

"Shortly after it passed the Macksville bridge that vehicle has collided [with] a southbound B-double," Superintendent Paul Fehon from NSW Police told the ABC.

The teen died at the scene at the crash.

The driver of the truck was not injured however was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Following the collision a crime scene has been established at the location, which will be examined by specialist forensic officers.

The two towns are approximately 50 kilometres apart.

There are currently extensive roadworks on the highway between Warrell Creek and Nambucca Heads according to local reports.
