Oscar winner Mira Sorvino has a new role in the new comedy "Stuber," about an Uber ride gone awry, but don't expect her to be picking up any shares in newly-public Uber. She says she doesn't pay attention to the stock market.
"I am not a gambler. I do not enjoy playing with money and seeing it go down," Sorvino told Jen Rogers on Yahoo Finance's My Three Cents.
Earlier in her career, Sorvino invested in the market, but says she lost money after 9/11 and the Great Recession and realized timing the market was not for her. "Things plummeted and ... I had to pull money out of it before it could grow back. Now if I kept it in, but you know."
She still saves for her four kids’ college educations, but even that can get frustrating given the market volatility of the last year.
"Literally my kid's college fund has gone down in the past year, and I'm like, “What? What? No, no, no, We're putting money in, that number should be steadily rising."
“Stuber” starring Dave Bautista and Kumail Nanjiani hits theaters July 12.
