Cheryl refused to go public with her pregnancy because she didn't want to 'jinx it'

After almost six months of speculation, Cheryl finally confirmed that she is pregnant with Liam Payne’s baby last week, showing off her huge baby bump in a skintight dress as part of a L’Oreal and Prince’s Trust collaboration.

Increasingly frustrated fans had previously slammed the star for refusing to say anything about the ever-growing speculation, with many accusing Cheryl of courting the media attention by trying to keep the mystery, however, it appears that the former X Factor judge actually had a very simple, and very good, reason for wanting to keep schtum.

According to a mystery source, Cheryl was paranoid about “jinxing” her happiness by going public with it, scarred by her two very public marriage breakdowns.

Despite being over the moon, Closer report that the singer was terrified that she would tempt fate if she revealed all, with an insider explaining: “Following two public divorces and wanting a baby for so long, Cheryl has been nervous about this pregnancy.

“She was scared that after years of bad luck, she may jinx the best thing that ever happened to her, which prompted her to stay silent – despite the fact she’s been wanting to shout about her pregnancy from the rooftops.”

It is also thought that Cheryl was being sensitive to her ex-husband, Jean Bernard Fernandez-Versini’s, feelings, as she had fallen pregnant so soon after their marriage broke down.

Cheryl and Liam first went public with their relationship in February last year, with her divorce from JB not being finalised until eight months later.

The source continued: “Cheryl’s been sensitive that her relationship with Liam progressed soon after her marriage breakdown and she was conscious of appearing to rube the pregnancy in JB’s face – especially as technically they were still married for part of it.”

It is thought that Cheryl and Liam’s bundle of joy is due any day now, and we certainly couldn’t be more excited to meet their little one.
