One Direction fans raise $30k for charity in honour of Harry Styles' birthday

It feels like we are always bleating on about how great those One Direction fans are, and it’s obvious that even though the much-loved group are currently on a hiatus they’re still being supported tremendously by their millions of followers.

The latest proof of the undying love and support for 1D comes following Harry Styles’ 23rd birthday on Wednesday, as fans rallied together to raise an eye-watering $30,000 for a variety of charities close to Harry’s heart.

We mean, have you ever heard of anything more generous?

In case you’re wondering, every year One Direction fans have raised money for the London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard, a cause that Harry has often spoken out in support of, with the grand total for this year coming to a staggering $12,000.

On top of that, One Direction fans united to donate over $1,000 to the Little Princess Trust – the charity that Harry donated his famous hair to after he cut it last year -, over $11,000 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, $1,500 for Ric O’Barry’s Dolphin Project and over $1,500 for Cancer Research Kids and Teens.

It’s safe to say that the fans will be making a difference to thousands of people’s lives through their goodwill gesture.

Harry has been on a bit of a social media break in recent months, barely tweeting or acknowledging anything on his popular Twitter and Instagram platforms, however, he did make a point to ‘Like’ a tweet from an update account that broke down how much money was raised in his honour and where all of the funding will go.

Back in December, generous One Direction fans raised a huge $27,893 for The Eden Dora Trust in memory of Louis Tomlinson’s mother, Johannah Deakin, who tragically passed away from leukaemia.
