Louis Tomlinson has reflected on his emotional X Factor performance, which took place just days after his mum died.

Johannah Deakin sadly passed away in December before Louis made his solo debut with 'Just Hold On' with DJ Steve Aoki during The X Factor final, and he's revealed that he doesn't remember too much about it.

"I have had to watch it back a couple of times since because in the moment right there, and especially with the emotion and everything, it all just whizzed by so quickly," he told Carson Daly on 97.1 AMP Radio.

"I was terrified at the time. It was a real moment and it really helped me going out and having Steve there with me. It was my first performance, I wasn't completely alone, so that definitely really helped."

Louis added that the song wasn't written about potentially losing his mum, and is more about the fight to "stay positive".

He recently broke his silence over his mum's death in another radio interview.

"It's not something that I feel 100% comfortable talking too much about but just quickly, when I first found out the news, I kind of did want to throw the towel in," Louis explained. "But it was my mum who said to me that I've just got to keep going."

He has also apparently split from his girlfriend Danielle Campbell after going out for more than a year. The pair have not been pictured together since his X Factor performance.

Louis started dating former Disney star Danielle in November 2015 while his former partner was pregnant with the star's baby Freddie.
