The London-based company said it had profit of $1.45 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $1.21 per share.

The pharmaceutical posted revenue of $5.59 billion in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $3.5 billion, or $2.76 per share. Revenue was reported as $23 billion.

Astrazeneca shares have climbed nearly 2 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has decreased 15 percent in the last 12 months.
