EastEnders fans ask why nobody cares about Roxy Mitchell's death
On New Year’s Day, EastEnders viewers were left saddened when iconic sisters, Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell, were brutally killed off in a tragic swimming pool accident.
Ronnie had tied the knot to the love of her life, Jack Branning, just hours earlier, with Roxy giving the blushing bride away.
However, in consequent episodes of the BBC One soap, fans of the show have been left stunned as they’ve argued that none of the other characters appear to care about the fact that Roxy is dead.
Pointing out that all of the attention and grief has gone to Ronnie, viewers reached breaking point during last night’s episode when Jack accused Roxy of purposefully drowning his wife.
Taking to Twitter, fans defended Roxy’s honour as they wrote:
I just read a tweet that said 'can we please remember that Roxy died too'. And in all honesty she was the better sister… #eastenders????????????♂️

Typical, of course Jack would blame Roxy, even when she's dead… #EastEnders

Even when Roxy’s former boss and close friend, Donna, found out about the sisters’ deaths, she didn’t seem particularly concerned about the loss of Roxy, quickly taking flowers round to Jack’s house.
In fact, arguably the only character to have shown true grief for the younger of the Mitchell sisters was their mum, Glenda, who was seen sobbing over her children’s corpses as she went to identify their bodies alongside Jack, his brother Max, and her son, Danny.
To be fair, with such a high death toll in Walford, the other characters are probably pretty desensitised to tragic deaths… Especially over the festive season.
