Deal Or No Deal contestant given IVF money by George Michael to name baby after him

The Deal Or No Deal contestant who was given £9,000 by George Michael to pay for her IVF treatment has revealed that she and her partner plan to name their child after the star now that they know that he was the anonymous donor.

Lynette Gillard and Nathan Hart drove 400 miles to visit the late singer’s Oxfordshire home following his tragic Christmas Day death, and they have revealed their touching tribute plans.

Lynette only learned that George was the donor who hoped to make her baby dreams come true following the star’s death, with the singer making many anonymous and off-the-record donations to charities and struggling individuals throughout his life.

Speaking as she laid flowers outside of George’s house, Lynette shared: “We definitely want to include George’s name as a middle name when we have a baby and we’ll be playing his music while I’m in labour.

“I am just so grateful for what George did. I will never forget it. He has completely changed our lives, and laying the flowers was a really sad day.

“To do something so generous for strangers on TV – I just can’t believe it. I wake up every day and think I’m in a dream.

“I was lost for words when we heard there’d been a donation eight years ago and I am still lost for words now.”

Lynette appeared on Deal or No Deal back in 2008 and hoped to raise money for the treatment, but was left devastated when she only won £3,000.

She’d been undergoing IVF treatment since 2005 with no success and had previously sold her car to raise more money for the treatment.

Lynette explained: “I have had so many failed rounds of IVF. It is an emotional rollercoaster, getting your hopes up each time. When it didn’t work I was getting so upset and I knew something was wrong.

“I was told I needed special blood tests to check my immune system to find out why it kept failing but I never would have been able to afford them without George.”

The blood tests cost £2,500 each and doctor’s found that Lynette’s immune system had been attacking the embryos once they were implanted, which they will hopefully be able to prevent from happening next time.

Deal Or No Deal’s former executive producer, Richard Osman, was the one who shared George’s extremely generous donation following his death, tweeting: “A woman on ‘Deal Or No Deal’ told us she needed £15k for IVF treatment. George Michael secretly phoned the next day and gave her the £15k.”

It is not yet known how George died with a post-mortem carried out last week coming back as inconclusive.

Police have said that his death is unexplained but not suspicious.
