Ferne McCann breaks her silence as ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins is found guilty of acid attack

Ferne McCann has released a statement days after her ex-boyfriend, Arthur Collins, was found guilty of a horrific acid attack in April.

More than a dozen revellers were left with life-changing injuries following the attack in Mangle nightclub in Hackney, East London on 17 April, with Collins found guilty of five counts of grievous bodily harm with intent, and nine counts of actual bodily harm against 14 people on Monday [13 November].

Breaking Ferne’s silence on the court case, a rep said: “Ferne’s thoughts are of course with the innocent people caught up in the events at Mangle last April. No one should ever be faced with violence on a night out.

“Having given birth days ago, Ferne is focusing on being the best mother she can be. She long ago accepted that she would be doing this alone and is determined to provide the best possible future for her daughter.”

Ferne welcomed her and Arthur’s first child together, baby Sunday, earlier this month, with the former The Only Way Is Essex star publicly stating that her relationship with Arthur was over and that she planned to raise her baby alone shortly after his arrest seven months ago.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, a source previously said: “She is having a really tough time.

“She is putting on a brave face to the world but behind the scenes, her family are really worried about her.

“This is her maternity leave. She’s really emotional and can’t believe what has happened. She never thought in a million years he would do this.

“She’s in bits. She’s just doing the best she can but is absolutely devastated.”

Collins previously confessed to throwing the liquid but insisted that he did not know that it was acid, instead believing that it was a date-rape drug.

Andre Phoenix, Collins’ co-defendant, was cleared of all charges against him after he was seen on CCTV apparently holding Collins’ arms as he allegedly sprayed the liquid, with Phoenix telling the jury that he stepped in to separate Collins and another male during an altercation.

Phoneix was burned by the substance and was seen washing himself with a bottle of water in the CCTV footage, attending Whittington hospital in Archway, north London, for medical assistance the next day.

Collins will be sentenced on 19 December.
