A defendant has slashed his throat in the dock as he awaited sentence after pleading guilty to sexual assault.

Lukasz Robert Pawlowski, 33, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court this morning – after he admitted sexually assaulting a shop assistant.

Pawlowski, of Bush Street, Pembroke Dock, was awaiting sentence when he slashed his throat with the knife.

It isn’t immediately clear how Pawlowski obtained the weapon – but two ambulances and the air ambulance immediately attended the scene shortly after a call was made at 10.20 GMT.

A reporter for the Western Telegraph who witnessed the incident said: ‘He came into the dock, then asked to go to the toilet. He went out, came back, muttered something then started slashing at his throat.

‘The court room was then cleared out, and first aid was given by paramedics in the dock.’

Pawlowski was in court for sentencing after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a shop worker on October 30 last year.

The Western Telegraph reports that he grabbed the shop worker and pulled her backwards before kissing her on the lips. He was arrested after the assault was captured on the store’s CCTV.
