This is what’s inside YouTuber Zoella’s ‘rip-off’ £50 calendar that’s outraged fans

Zoe Sugg is arguably one of the most prolific YouTubers around, with over 12 million people subscribing to the 27-year-old vlogger’s ‘Zoella’ YouTube account and 11 million people following her on Twitter.

Off the back of her staggering online success, Zoe has launched many products over the years – including books, a beauty line with Boots, and other merchandise, earning a reported £50,000 a month as of last March.

However, not everybody is impressed with Zoe’s latest product – a £50 advent calendar, exclusive to Boots.

Advertised as “the ultimate Christmas calendar from Zoella lifestyle” full of “individually designed” and “amazing and exclusive treats”, Zoe’s young fans have flocked to buy the pricey “12 Days Of Christmas” calendar, but many have now branded it a “rip off” after being left disappointed by the “cheap tat” inside.

Averaging just one and a half stars on Boots, Zoe’s fans have slammed the 12 products that the £50 price tag gets them, with the calendar containing:

A bauble
Confetti
Stickers
A pen
A mini jotter pad
A keyring
Two cookie cutters
Room spray
A mini make-up bag
And two votive candles

Reviewing the product, one disgruntled customer wrote: “Wish I could give 0/5 stars. Disappointed with the lack of thought gone into each door.

“First, only 12 days? Second, I could get the same stuff from Poundland.”

Others added: “Disgustingly overpriced. Parents do NOT buy!! This calendar is worth £20 maximum.

“I am a huge Zoella fan however she made a HUGE mistake with this. Many of the items could easily be bought in a pound store, for example you receive a literal bag of confetti behind one of the doors.

“I am honestly disgusted at how this is retailing at £50.”

“What a load of rubbish. I’ve followed Zoella for a long time but I’m honestly shocked that she allowed her name to be attached to this pile of tat.

“£50?!?!? For literal tat. You’re losing it, girl!”

“I was absolutely disgusted by the content that came inside this cheap looking box. All the items looked extremely cheap and you can buy all of these items for so much cheaper elsewhere.

“I want my money back! Not happy Zoella, not happy at all.”

Fans have also flocked to social media to slam Zoe for allowing her name to be put on such an overpriced item, tweeting:

Speaking previously about the calendar in one of her YouTube videos, Zoe teased: “This was so hard to get right and I really, really wanted it to be absolutely perfect so this did take a lot of time and tweaking.

“So I am very, very proud of it.”

Zoe’ rep told Yahoo Celeb UK: “Zoe is incredibly proud of the Christmas collection and excited to see it in store.

“However, the pricing and in store promotional strategy of the collection, including the calendar, is at the control of third parties and is not set by Zoe.”
